I'd like to see a starting eleven next week at least as strong as the one we put out tonight.

Not a waste of time it's a preseason
It's embarrassing to a degree but he's hardly got quality in depth

Sam left us short of quality

Should be good enough to still win this.

Is one glamour game in Europe to much to aspire to?

Re: Team for away leg
With the thoughts of Bilic saying he won't use many if any of the team to play against Arsenal, it's going to be tricky to have a decent line up but surely the likes of Cresswell can play. That way we will have two decent full backs to attack. Payet and the midfielders won't be asked.
At least O'Brien and Collins won't feature. Only leaves Nolan to play but I'm afraid we will again carry him.

OK, I guess Page in for Hendrie then...

(For those like me, and unlike kia, who can't remember who is in and who is out: Reid, Hendrie, Westley, Obiang, Carroll, are not listed for Europa league. As far as I can see, everyone else is, including the likes of Lanzini, Samuelson, Henry, etc.)

Is play everyone except sakho
He's the only player that we'd be totally fucked if he got injured

Really don't see the point of playing 6 games and wrecking pre season if you'll willing to roll over

Re: Team for away leg
The right thing for Bilic to do is to go all out to win both games.

Anything else and he gets his managerial career off to a disastrous start.

Nobody will complain if we give it a real go with our best team in Romania and lose, and then do the same against Arsenal and also lose.

All any fan should ever want is that we put out our best side and play to win.

But if he fields a weakened side against Astra he is on a hiding to nothing..

We would be right back to the worst of the Allardyce days - the weakened side against Forest and then the defeat to City, with 11 goals shipped in a few days. The whole club was embarrassed.

Come on Slaven, wake up. You are here because S&G do not want to get booed every Saturday. That means playing the West Ham way - attacking and entertaining. That's all we want, results are secondary.

Can't we just borrow Barcelona's?

We don't want Barcelona's squad because it's not as good as ours.

HTH.

Re: Team for away leg
But it would leave our superior squad fresh as a daisy for the Prem. Barcelona's journeymen won't be cup-tied as far as the Europa is concerned, so I have provided an elegant solution to your problem, as ever. No need to thank me. My brilliance is its own reward. Just as well, given your appalling manners.

Re: Team for away leg
No point even entering the competition if we're gonna throw the 2nd leg which it effectively would be if it's a weakened side.

Why would any West Ham fan bother going all that way at great expense to watch a reserve side lose?
